Samantha Jane Stosur was born on March 30, 1984 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She is a well known Australian tennis player. She is the former number one in doubles and Grand Slam tournaments winner in all ranks. Stosur ‘s grandfather came from Poland. Samantha’s father is Tony and her mother is Diana. She has two brothers - Dominic and Daniel. Sam was six years old when her family moved from the Gold Coast to Adelaide after their home had been destroyed by flood.Already there, in the capital of South Australia, she began playing tennnis when the parents gave her a racket as a present for Christmas. While her parents were working in the cafe, Sam was playing on the local courts. At the age of 13, Stosur made her first trip to a foreign tennis tournament (World Youth Cup) in Jakarta. At the age of 14, Samantha entered the Australian Queensland Sports Academy (QAS). Samantha had her first adult ITF tournament in 1998. 2001 became her first year of great success ; she won 10 ITF titles (4 - in singles).
