Salvatore Cutugno was born on July 7, 1943. He is an Italian composer and singer. His stage name is Toto Cutugno. Salvatore Cutugno was born in the Tuscan town of Fosdinovo. A few months later his family moved to La Specia where his father served as a military sailor. Toto had very good musical abilities since childhood. He perfectly played the trumpet, drums and accordion. At the age of 13, Toto won the third place at a regional music competition. At the age of 19, Cutugno played the drums in the local bands, until he was sent to a six-month tour to Finland. When he was back to Italy, Salvatore organized his own group «Toto e Tati», which started touring successfully in Italy. At the same time, he began to compose music.
