Liam Neeson was born on 07th of July, 1952 in Ballymena town in Northern Ireland. Real name is William John Neeson, Liam is the Irish equivalent of the British first name William. Liam is the couple's third child and the only boy among three sisters: Elizabeth, Bernadette and Rosaline.
But few people know that Liam Neeson was originally prepared to build a career in professional sport. Thus, when he was 9 years old he joined the All Saints Youth Club in Ballymena to take boxing lessons, and 7 years later already won the championship of Ireland three times at the heavyweight category. At 15 he broke his nose during a game of box, which is until today one of the defining features of his physiognomy. He gave up this career and to the dream of participating at Olympics professional boxer two years later when, because of strong blows to the head, had some moments of loss of consciousness that scared him very much.
When Neeson was 19 he entered at the Queen's University in Belfast, studying mathematics, physics, computer science and geology, but gave up to courses after less than one year.
In 1976 took place his theatrical debut at the Belfast Lyric Player's Theatre, Liam Neeson having an insignificant role for only 2mminutes in the play "The Risen People", a role which he initially obtained only because of his impressive stature (1.93 m). But two years later, after he moved from Belfast to Dublin, he joined the team at Dublin's actors of the Abbey Theater and starred in many classic plays, many of them belonging to William Shakespeare.
In 1985 he traveled to Los Angeles several times and had several meetings with Hollywood agents, but was told to him that he has little chance to build a career in America as long as he continues to live in London, that is why he will leave England in January 1986 and will be permanently in the colony of the American film.
1987 was marked by the interpretation of the role of the deaf and dumb vagabond, from the "Suspect" movie in which he had as partner the actress and singer Cher, but only three years later received his first leading role of his career in "Darkman".
After he played with his wife Natasha Richardson and Jodie Foster in 1994 in "Nell", in the next two years he took only the roles of legendary heroes of Scottish or Irish origin in historical tint films such as "Rob Roy" or "Michael Collins" for the last film received a new Golden Globe nomination. The third and last nomination for a Golden Globe obtained so far is due to the controversial film "Kinsey" in 2004. Liam Neeson is an honorary member of the Conference of Drama Schools (CDS) in England, with Sir Anthony Hopkins, Brian Cox, Richard Harris, Peter O'Toole and Jeremy Irons.
