Considered one of the greatest actors in the history of film, Alfredo James Pacino was the only child of Salvatore and Rose Pacino, who divorced when he was only 2 years old. Pacino was born on 25th of April 1940 in South Bronx, New York. Bored and unmotivated in school, he found his fulfillment in plays of theatre, played in school, which constituted the first step in his career. When he was 17 he quits at his prestigious lyceum "High School of the Performing Arts ", after failing on almost all subjects, except English.

Appearing in numerous plays, he shot in "The Indian Wants the Bronx", winning an Obie Award for the 1966-67 season. Gaining notoriety in the theater, he won a Tony Award for "Does the Tiger Wear a Necktie”? Al Pacino makes his first television appearance in an episode of "NYPD" in 1968, and the debut on big screen came a year later with the film "Me, Natalie". His role in "The Panic in Needle Park" attracts the attention of the director Francis Ford Coppola, who gives to Al a role in the blockbuster "The Godfather" (although most of the production team would have wanted Robert Redford or Jack Nicholson). The choice of the director proves to be very inspired as Al Pacino receives his first Oscar nomination as the Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

He continued his career at the highest level and manages to win four nominations at Oscar for the roles from "Serpico" in 1973, "The Godfather II" in 1974, "Dog Day Afternoon" in 1975 and " and “Justice for All " in 1979. The returning to the world of cinema and the role of "Dick Tracy" brings a new Oscar nomination, and later to win the award for the best actor for the movie "Scent of a Woman".

The years that follow found Al becoming increasingly popular in the world of actors starring in such films as "Carlito's Way" in 1993, "Donnie Brasco" in 1997, "The Insider" in 1999(which took seven Oscar nominations ) Insomnia in 2002, "the Merchant of Venice" in 2004 and "88 Minutes" in 2007.

In personal life Pacino is one of the most confident and notorious bachelors in Hollywood, who has never been married. He has a daughter, Julie Marie, with the acting teacher, Jan Tarrant and two twins with Beverly D'Angelo, his longest relationship. His romantic history includes a long relationship with his partner from the movie Godfather, Diane Keaton. Al Pacino can be considered an original in his profession.

Al Pacino had a hard life since childhood when at an early age his parents divorced. His mother’s name was Rose Gerard and his father, Salvatore Pacino was born in Palermo, Sicily. He has a very successful career, full of wonderful movies and excellent roles which enchanted us all the time. Pacino worked very hard to become such an extraordinary actor, nominated for important awards, and now is a famous and remarkable movie star.
