Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is the second largest aquarium in the world. It is a part of the Oceanic Exhibition Park in Motobu, which opened in 2002. It is a part of the Ocean Expo Commemorative National Government Park.
The Oceanarium is located in the depths of the park, 5 minutes from the entrance and it is built on a hillside. The Oceanarium is arranged in such away as to display the marine life of the island to the best. The aquarium is divided into three areas: coral reefs and shallow world, Kuroshio Current, the warm waters of which house many marine species. The creatures that live in each of the zones are strikingly different from each other. The aquarium holds 80 species of coral. It is one of only a few aquariums that keeps Whale sharks in captivity, and is currently trying to breed them The aquarium is made up of four floors When entering the aquarium, visitors are on the third floor and then they gradually go down, as if sinking deeper and deeper into the sea. The travel begins with the world of coral and tropical fish and it ends with the awe-inspiring depths of the ocean. This fantastic underwater world is separated by the visitors by means of the world's largest acrylic panel measuring 60 centimeters thick. Okinawa giant aquarium is stunningly nice. The aquarium was made according to a special technology developed by "Nippur," which allows to create thick, transparent acrylic panels that can withstand enormous pressure of the water and provide an excellent overview. The aquarium has other activities than to entertain the visitors. Close to the Aquarium there are two different dolphin shows in which you can touch them and watch them perform in a show. There is also a mantee exhibit, featuring manatees presented to the aquarium by the Mexican government. This is one of the most beautiful aquariums in the world.
