Francois Fillon is the Prime Minister of France. He is one of the main supporters of the President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy. From 2004 to 2005, he was the Minister of National Education. From 2002 to 2004, he was the Minister of Social Affairs, Labour and Solidarity. In the 1990s he was the Minister of Higher Education and Research, the Minister for Information Technology and Mail.
Francois Fillon was born on March 4, 1954 in Le Mans in Pays-de-la-Loire in the family of the solicitor Michel Fillon and a well-known historian, Anne Fillon. François was the oldest child in the family. He was one of the best students in academic progress, but he had troubles with the discipline. He was expelled from two private schools. He attended Lyceum of the Catholic Notre Dame de Sainte Croix in Le Mans After high school, then he applied for Universite du Maine. During his university years he was financially free from his parents, he began to earn money. At the University of Maine in 1972, Fillon received a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy and the Master degree in Public Law. In 1976 Fillon held practice in the Madrid office of Agence France-Presse, and in 1977 he returned to Paris and received DEA, diplome d'etudes approfondies) for Public Law at the Universite Rene Descartes in Paris. Political career Fillon began his political career in the French Parliament, becoming in 1976 the assistant deputy of Joel Le Theule .He worked at his campaign headquarters . In 1981, Fillon was appointed the head of the legislative service and parliamentary work in the Industry Minister office, Michel Giraud and he became RPR candidate, becoming the youngest member of the Assembly. Then he was re-elected in 1986, 1988, 1993, 1997 and 2002. Simultaneously, Fillon held several positions in his native region. Fillon was a consistent eurosceptics: in 1992 he voted against the Maastricht treaty, which led to the creation of the European Union and introduction on its territory of a single currency. The new political mentor of Fillon was one of the leaders of the neo-Gaullist, Philippe Séguin. He was one of the most persistent enemies of Jacques Chirac as well as an ardent supporter of European integration and the introduction of the single European currency. After the Socialist Prime Minister Pierre Beregoy, Fillon was elected in the government as the Minister of Higher education and Research. He held this post until 1995, when he became Minister of Information Technology . In 1999 in protest against the increasing influence in the party of Jacques Chirac, Fillon decided to participate in the RPR election. This attempt was a failure. At the same time he became friends with the future President of France Nicolas Sarkozy. From 1999 to 2001 he worked as a political adviser in RPR. In 2001 he became chairman of the Community of Communes of Sable-sur-Sarthe Municipal Council . From 2002 to 2004, Fillon was the First Vice-President of the Council of Pays de la Loire region. From 2004 to 2007 he was a political adviser of Sarkozy and the head of his presidential campaign. It is believed that much of Sarkozy's election program is Fillon’s work. On May 17, 2007 Fillon was appointed as The Prime Minister. Fillon has continued to implement reforms of pension system and labor. As Prime Minister, Fillon advocated closer ties with Russia. In June 1980, Fillon married a native of Wales, Penelope Kathryn Clarke. They have five children.
Fillon enjoys backpacking, skiing, mountain biking, cinema and reading. He is also known as a racing amateur. Fillon, during his school years, spent much time on the race track situated next to his house. The press noted that the passion for racing is combined with a balanced calm character. He a very handsome man and attracts the attention of many women.
