As a success, in March he is registering his first semi-final in ATP tournament, one in Scottsdale, and some quarter-finals, including at Estoril in April and in Bucharest in September.
His weak results make him to come back in Challenger tournaments, where in March, in Italy in the first round he wins against Bjorn Phau (ATP 126). His protected status in April gives access to participate in two ATP tournaments, but has no success, so that he returns in Challenger tournaments, where he reaches the semifinals and final quarter. In August he wins two consecutive Challenger tournaments in Romania and Austria and climbs to the 151 position.
