Tyra Lynne Banks was born on December 4, 1973 and is an actress, a talk-show presenter, an American supermodel and business woman. She became famous after working as a model in Paris, Milan, London, Tokyo and New York, but the appearances at the television really have assured the commercial success. She is also known for presenting the show America's Next Top Model which was created in 2003. Currently she hosts her own talk show called The Tyra Banks Show.

Banks was born in Ingelwood, California and she is the daughter of Carolyn (born in London), manager of fashion and Donald Banks, a photographer who worked for NASA and as a specialist in computers. Her parents divorced in 1990, when she was 16 years old. She managed to keep a close relationship with her parents and her brother Devin Banks (born in 1968), despite this event. Later, Carolyn married to Clifford Johnson, and, currently she is called Carolyn London-Johnson. Banks grew up in Inglewood and attended the John Burroughs gymnasium. In 1991 she graduated the Lyceym Immaculate Heart of Los Angeles. She began working as a model since the 11th grade, and after high school she was accepted to colleagues as USC or UCLA, wanting to get a specialization in the television production. Tyra Banks is an internationally recognized model.

Banks is the first black model who appeared on the cover of the catalog "Victoria's Secret" and has signed an exclusive contract with the company.
